1. STORE PUMPED BREAST MILK IN MASON JARS
If you’re looking for a plastic-free option to store your breast milk, our mason jars are ideal as they’re made out of glass (BPA free). They’re also convenient because they come in different sizes, so you are able to store different amounts of milk (or food if your baby is 6+ months).
You may be wondering how you will be able to label your jars as needed. A simple way of doing this is using our writable silicone disks that are compatible with any normal-mouth mason jar.

A NOTE ON PUMPING AND MASON JARS
Many moms pump into the containers that come with their pump and then pour the milk into mason jars. The wide opening on the jars means you won’t spill any milk in the process. Other moms want to connect their pump directly to mason jars. If that’s you, here are all the details on how pump into jars
2. GENTLY THAW MASON JARS
Research shows that breastmilk that is heated above 104 degrees Fahrenheit will start to lose nutritional value! Because of this, it is important to freeze and defrost breast milk gently.
How to gently thaw our mason jars:
- Place jar from the freezer into the refrigerator to slowly thaw
- Leave jar to defrost on a counter at room temperature
- Run your mason jar under warm water
Side note: According to the CDC, never microwave milk (breast milk or formula) as this can cause milk to lose nutrients. The milk could also heat unevenly and may burn your baby. You can read about the number one mistake parents make when heating breast milk here.
3. KNOW THAT CLEANING MASON JARS IS EASY!
One of the greatest benefits of using our mason jars for feeding infants is how simple, and minimal the cleaning process is.
You can say goodbye to awkward baby bottle brushes. Our jars have a wide, shoulderless opening, no bottle brush needed!
To clean our Mason jars you can hand wash in the sink using the same sponge you use for the rest of your dishes. Alternatively, you can place our jars on the top rack of your dishwasher!
As for the rust free rings and nipples that go alongside our mason jars, they are also top rack dishwasher safe. Feel free to place all these Mason Bottle products to be washed in your dishwasher for an easy cleaning routine.
If you’re using metal rings, be sure to hand wash and promptly dry them, as they can rust easily.
